A Brotherhood Forged Through Service
This is my platoon. These are my fellow Marines. And this is a brotherhood that remains part of who I am today.
This photograph captures my fellow Marines and me serving with the U.S. Marine Corps’ 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, 6th Platoon, off the coast of Somalia in the early 1990s.
During my more than nine years in the Marine Corps, I learned that service is about more than duty and sacrifice. It’s about trust, loyalty, and knowing that the Marine beside you has your back.
I believe veterans from every branch and generation understand that bond. Our experiences may differ, but our commitment to one another doesn’t have to end when we take off the uniform.
That’s why I created the Veteran’s Bunker. It’s my way of continuing to serve—helping fellow veterans and their families find trusted information, valuable resources, and connections to people who can help.
The men in this photograph remind me where that commitment began.
We served together then. We look out for one another now.
